Bluegrass
Community Hospital will be hosting FREE athletic physicals at Woodford County
High School today, May 1st from 3:30-5:30. Doctors
Jon Sanchez, Martin Favetto, and Brian Smith along with his physicians’
assistants have generously donated their time and expertise. Parents and
student/athletes please be patient while waiting for your physical. Last year we
were able to perform 165 physicals. With so many athletes there is bound to be a
bit of a wait so please be understanding and patient with us. Parents can
download the physical form at: http://www.khsaa.org/forms/ge04.pdf
. Parents, you MUST fill out all information (except for the physical
examination section) and sign the physical form BEFORE your son or daughter can
receive a physical exam.
Reminder.
Attention
Seniors and Senior Parents: Seniors
or their parents can submit a picture at The Woodford Sun Office for the special
senior section for graduation (for free). Submission
deadline is Friday, May 2. This is a great keepsake!

5-1-08. Dear
AP World History Parents and Guardians:
We
have finished our textbook, and have begun the AP Review process in preparation
for the AP Exam. It’s been a fun
group, and I feel confident that they can do well on the AP test IF they put in
the study time! Here are some
suggestions on how you can help from home:
1.
The
AP Exam is scheduled for Thursday, May 15th in the
morning. The Counseling Office will
administer the test at KCTCS – more information will be coming to you via
handout from the counselors. To
receive the weighted grade, students MUST take the test.
Be watching for the handout and review it with your student
2.
Students
are not required to purchase review books, but they do help.
If your student is using a review book he or she should be reading/taking
notes or highlighting EVERY DAY. Perhaps
only 30 minutes this week – more as we move into next week (60 minutes)
3.
If
you student is not using a review book he or she should do the following with
the text:
a.
Read
the into/conclusion (in yellow) for each chapter – take notes!
b.
Review
the glossary – make flashcards and review them
c.
Review
notes from the year
d.
Fill
out trends charts (will get next week).
4.
All
students should make use of the book on-line resources and take the online
quizzes for each chapter – then make note of the questions they miss for
review.
5.
Beginning
next week (Monday, May 5th) we will be working in class on review
strategies, taking AP practice tests (for a grade), doing final writing
activities (again – for a grade) that will help prepare students for the test.
Before and after school study sessions will be announced Monday.
More
information on test day will be coming next week.
I’ve enjoyed your student so much this year, and am hoping for a strong
showing on the AP exam. Much depends
on their independent study – so encourage them please!!
I know they can do it!!! Susan

all WCHS Parents - Frozen in Time, the 2008 Junior-Senior Prom will take place
in the WCHS Gymnasium from 9pm-1am. If
you would like a "sneak peak", you and your family are welcome to stop
by May 3rd from 6:30-8pm when we will have the gym open for our community to see
the transformation! Please
plan on parking in the front or coop side of the building and walking around the
building to our rear entrance, as our parking area will be restricted for our
students. The gym closes at 8pm, in
preparation for prom. In
addition, parents are welcome to gather beside the red carpet to snap photos of
their student as they make their way into the building - again, parking is
restricted to the front of the building.

this year's fair is bursting at the seams. If you want to experience all
the fair has to offer, get involved, it is not a sideline sport and you
have to be on the inside looking out. As always, the Woodford County Fair
is a family affair. Go to www.woodfordcountyfair.com
to see what is in store. This site has information and entry forms on
contests, pageants, etc. It is updated daily so please check back often. If
you have any questions about the fair, please contact a member of the fair

ever.
