Spanish I:

Prerequisite: incoming Freshmen must have 8th grade English teacher recommendation

This course is an introduction both to the Spanish language and Hispanic culture. The course focuses strongly on communication through acquiring vocabulary and basic grammatical structures. Course requirements will include reading, writing, and speaking in a variety of contexts.

Spanish II:

Grade: 10, 11, 12

Prerequisite: Spanish I

This course is a continuation of the study of Spanish language and Hispanic culture. Students will continue to acquire vocabulary, but with a strong focus on more difficult grammatical structures. Students will continue to advance their skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in Spanish.

Spanish III:

Grade: 11, 12
Credit: 1½

Prerequisite: Spanish II; Spanish teacher recommendation

This course is an intermediate study of Spanish language and Hispanic culture. More advanced vocabulary and grammatical structures figure prominently, focusing on past narration and contrasts between subjunctive and indicative moods. Students will work to improve speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills.

Spanish AP:

Spanish AP

Prerequisite: Spanish teacher recommendation

This course is a highly advanced, rigorous study of the Spanish language in preparation for the College Board AP examination. All language skills will be refined using authentic materials and advanced textbooks. Students will become familiar with the format of the Advanced Placement examination with the use of past tests.
