Cooperative Work Experience:

Grade: 12
Prerequisites: Co-op Supervisor or CATE coordinator approval; completed application (See Co-op supervisor for applications). Students must qualify under Career and Technical Education guidelines.

CO-OP Lab:

Grade: 12
Credit: ½ - 1 ½
Course Length: 1, 2 or 3
Note: Students must enroll in both CO-OP Lecture and CO-OP Lab

This program allows the students to work at a job while attending school. The teacher will provide counseling with on-the-job problems and will visit the employer to determine student progress. The employer will be asked to evaluate the student’s work habits, attitudes, attendance, job skills and any other vital component on the job. The student will be required to keep a record of his/ her hours worked, attendance at work and paycheck data.

This course provides basic job seeking and job keeping skills. Students are also involved in the exploration of various career opportunities and the requirements to be successful in their career choice. The class will also provide consumer information including independent living, insuring, banking and budgeting. The course also stresses basic skills in math, English and reading.

Prerequisites: CATE Coordinator approval; meet qualifications under the Carl Perkins Act

Students will work in various areas of the school including cafeteria, library, etc. Work Study is offered before, during and after school.
