Education:  I graduated from Breckinridge County High School in Harned , Kentucky .  I got my Bachelors degree with a double major in English and Spanish from the University of Kentucky .  I completed a Masters degree in the History and Literature of Religions at Northwestern University and a Doctorate in English at Auburn University .  Along the way, I did coursework for teacher certification in English at Virginia Tech.
Experience: I first taught English as a Second Language for two years at Sriwijaya University in Palembang , Sumatra in Indonesia
.  I taught English Composition and Great Books at Auburn University , also for two years.  For one year I served as Academic Coordinator in the Honors Program at the University of Kentucky .  I am beginning my eighth year of teaching here at WCHS.
Teaches:  This year I will be teaching Advanced American Studies (English III), and Creative Writing.  I also serve as the Writing Resource Teacher for WCHS.
Extracurricular Activities and Hobbies:  I am the sponsor of the Creative Writing Club  I live on a farm on the Kentucky River with my husband, John Wilhoit, and our two children, Ella and Thomas.  My hobbies include writing poetry, walking, yoga, and rug hooking.

Libbi Denney

Education:  I graduated from Wayne County High School in Monticello, Kentucky, and then attended Eastern Kentucky University.  I hold a degree in English-Secondary Education.  I am currently attending graduate school at EKU, working toward an MA in English education as well.
Experience:  After completing my student teaching at Madison Central in Richmond, where I worked with juniors and seniors, I taught preschool for three years.  I then taught seventh grade Literature at Woodford Middle for six years.  This is my first year at WCHS.
 Personal:  I am the youngest of four children, and the majority of my family still lives in Somerset.  I have a cat that I ADORE (Spunky).  I am a big supporter of the American armed forces (I love the red, white, and blue!), UK basketball (C-A-T-S, CATS, CATS, CATS!), and various professional sports teams.  If I actually HAD spare time, I would spend it with my close friends, reading a good book, or shopping.

Education: I graduated from Meade Co. High School in 1977; received my bachelor's from WKU in 1982 in English and Therapeutic Recreation.  I received my Masters from Georgetown in 1992 in Education.
Experience: I taught for five years at Garland Independent School District in Texas, and am currently in my thirteenth year here at WCHS.  This is my 18th teaching year. 

Teaches: This year I teach Advanced Composition and senior English, and AP English IV English Literature. 

Extracurricular duties/hobbies: I currently coach varsity cheerleading.  This is my third year doing this at WCHS, but I also coached in Texas for three years.  I am on the Climate Committee this year, but have served on the Curriculum Committee, and the SBDM at points along the way.  This semester I am sharing a Writing Coordinator position with Dan Ruff.  In my free time  I play golf, go antiquing with friends, and read.

Education- I graduated from Dunbar High School in 1998; received my bachelor’s degree from Georgetown College in 2002; and received my masters from Georgetown College in 2007.

Experience- “This is my sixth year teaching Spanish.”

Teaches- This year I am teaching Spanish I first semester and Spanish II and Spanish III second semester.

Extracurricular duties/ hobbies- I co-sponsor the Spanish club. I enjoy scrapbooking, being with family and friends, and traveling. I love to spend a long weekend in Gatlinburg, a week at the beach.  In the evenings I enjoy walking the neighborhood with my husband, 2 year old son, and dog.  We are expecting an addition to our family this December.

Samantha Kingsley

Spanish I

Education: I graduated from Tates Creek H.S.  I got my B.A. in Secondary Spanish Education from the University of Kentucky.  I got my M.A. in Secondary School Counseling from Eastern Kentucky University
Experience: I am on my 11th year of teaching Spanish.  This is my 6th year here at WCHS.  I spent the other 4 years at various places: Dunbar,

Lexington Catholic, LCC and Georgetown College. 
Teaches: I currently teach Spanish 1 this semester and I will have

Spanish II next semester.  I have taught Spanish levels 1 through 4 honors.
Extracurricular duties/ hobbies: I am the Spanish club sponsor. 

I also do ESS for Spanish.  As far as hobbies go, I love to travel! 

I have been to Spain 5 times, I have been all over Europe and also to Mexico.

My degree is Music Education from Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville, TN.  I earned an additional certification in English and am presently working on my Master's degree in Educational Leadership.
I have taught for 15 years:  Elementary Music - 5 years

 I have coached cheerleading, softball, and volleyball
I am presently teaching 11th and 12th English and coaching volleyball

Experience: I am in my third year as an English teacher at WCHS.  Previously, I was a substitute in Lee County and completed my student teaching at Estill County High School.

Extracurricular duties/Hobbies:
  I enjoy reading, traveling, shopping, and spending time with my husband and family.  I love to attend concerts with my husband and friends, as well as watch independent films.  Some of my favorite movies include:  Little Miss Sunshine, Amelie, Crash, Walk the Line, and Coal Miner’s Daughter. My favorite novels include:  A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime, and The Awakening.

Education: I graduated from the Baylor School in Chattanooga , TN. I later received my B.A. in English and Philosophy at Wittenberg University , a Masters in Ed. at UK , and an M.A. from the Bread Loaf School of English . I recently achieved National Board Certification.
Experience: Beginning 13th year as English teacher at Woodford – I think

Extracurricular duties/Hobbies: I sponsor the Ultimate Team and Film Club.  My wife Carey and I live on a farm in eastern Fayette County . I like to hike, camp, read, travel, fish, play Ultimate, raise a garden, and watch movies. My wife and I have just recently had our first child, so I also like watching her and reading her long English poems from the Romantic period.

Education:  graduated from John Overton High School in Nashville Tennessee. I completed my undergraduate degree at Western Kentucky University in Theatre and Speech. I have two Masters degrees from The University of Kentucky, one in Theatre and the other in Secondary Education.
Experience: I have taught at WCHS for five years where I also completed my student teaching assignment. I previously taught at the School for Performing and Creative Arts in Lexington and as a lecturer at universities in Kentucky and Texas.
Teaches: I teach Theatre and English at WCHS. I am also director of the Theatre program which means I direct and/or produce the dramatic presentations. I have taught a variety of classes related to theatre and the arts as well as classes in literature and writing.
Extracurricular duties/Hobbies: As I stated earlier, I direct the theatre program at the High School which means I oversee the variety of offerings in a dramatic environment. Students have the opportunity to act, direct, design and create using theatre and drama as the medium. My hobbies and talents are varied. I enjoy time with my family, reading, running and recreation.

Other: I like teaching theatre because I see the students using creativity they thought was nonexistent. I see the students using the arts as a springboard to a life full of creativity and imagination. The connection to the arts should begin at school and be fostered for a lifetime.
