HEALTH AND PHYSICAL EDUCATION

 Health is designed to introduce the concepts and practices involved in good physical, mental and social well-being.  Emphasis will be placed on the following areas:  alcohol and drug abuse, safety and accident prevention, emotional health and mental disorders, human sexuality,  nutrition, and violence prevention.

 Physical Education I

The Physical Education I course introduces the basic concepts of team sports with emphasis on mastery of basic fundamental skills, knowledge of rules and regulations of play and safety, and development of favorable attitudes toward fitness through participation in team sport activities.

 PHYSICAL EDUCATION II:   WEIGHT TRAINING AND CONDITIONING

Prerequisite:  P. E. I. 

Physical Education II is designed for the advanced physical education student with emphasis on weight training and conditioning.

 PHYSICAL EDUCATION II:  DANCE AND AEROBICS

 Prerequisite:  P. E. I.

 Physical Education II is designed for the advanced physical education student with emphasis on aerobics and conditioning.

 PHYSICAL EDUCAITON II:  DUAL/TEAM SPORTS

 Prerequisite:  P. E. I.

Physical Education II is designed for the advanced student with emphasis on skill development.  Activities will be of an individual or dual nature and team sports.

 PHYSICAL EDUCATION III:   ADVANCED WEIGHT TRAINING

Grade:  10, 11, 12                                                                                     Course Length:  Term 

Prerequisite:      P. E. II , weight training and conditioning.

 An advanced individuated weight program for each student will be developed with emphasis on his/her individual sports interests.

 SPORTS OFFICIATING

Credit:  l

Grade:  11, 12                                                                                           Course Length:  Term

 Prerequisite:  P. E. I and P. E. II.

This course is designed to give students an introduction to the rules of the major sports.  Students gain experience in officiating a variety of sports.  The skills learned in this course could lead to a career in high school, college (NCAA or NAIA), or professional sports officiating.
