Library Media Center Guidelines for Teachers
In order to foster an environment which stimulates learning, research, and reading, we ask for your cooperation in following these guidelines.
1.) A student must have a note issued by the appropriate teacher when he/she comes to the Library Media Center from a class. Please state the specific reason a student needs to use the LMC. This helps us to meet his/her research needs and keep him/her on task. Please include the time that the student left your class.
2.) A maximum of four (4) students may come to the LMC from a class when unaccompanied by the teacher. It is the teacher's responsibility to notify a Library Media Specialist before sending the students.
3.) Please do not send students to the LMC for disciplinary reasons.
4.) Please check with Mrs. Romine personally before sending a student to take a test. Depending on the activity in the Media Center at that time, it may be difficult to monitor the testing situation. Completed tests will be kept in the library until the teacher arrives to retrieve them.
5.) Classes should be scheduled to use the LMC at least two (2) days in advance. The teacher must be present and responsible for the group's behavior.
6.) When special materials need to be reserved for classes, please notify a Library Media Specialist in writing at least two (2) days in advance so he materials will be ready.
7.) The Library Media staff must account for the materials used each period. Please allow time to check materials before dismissing your students from the LMC.
8.) Computer work stations in the LMC are primarily for research. However, students are allowed to use Library computers for word processing if the Computer Lab and classroom work stations are unavailable.
9.) Teachers must check out their own LMC materials. If you are sending a student, please authorize in advance by calling the library.
Library Materials and Equipment
1.) Materials need to be returned by the Closing Day of the school year.
2.) The laminator is located in the LMC. Student aides are allowed to use the laminator for classroom materials ONLY if they have been trained by LMC staff.
3.) Projection lamps for audiovisual equipment are ordered by department chairpersons.
4.) Audiovisual equipment housed in the LMC may be checked out on a daily basis for short term use. The following is a list of the equipment available.
The following audiovisual equipment is available for use in the Library Media Center only.
Check with the department chairperson for a complete inventory of the audiovisual equipment available in your department.
