Spanish I 2006 Course Description

Objective: To begin study of Spanish language and culture and build fluency, writing, oral and aural skills. Students who treat this class as a priority will be able to communicate in Spanish at a beginner’s level by the end of this course.

 

Methods: We will work hard to achieve a classroom that is Spanish speaking only. Listening, speaking, writing, grammar and vocabulary activities will be used.

 

Materials: Textbook; Realidades 1 and accompanying workbook will be issued. Students will also need materials for taking extensive notes. A quality Spanish-English Dictionary is not required but would be a great asset for this and future classes.

 

Classroom Expectations: Students are to be on time to class and conduct themselves in an adult manner. Students are to respect each other and their instructor. Students are to speak in Spanish.

 

Academic Expectations: It will be necessary for students to spend considerable time studying materials for this class. This is in addition to any written assignments that may be assigned as homework.

 

Evaluation: Students will be given frequent quizzes and exams in addition to homework. Participation will also be part of overall grade.

Homework= 20%

Tests and Projects = 50%

Participation = 10%

Final = 10%

 

Participation: It is imperative that students participate in class. Producing the language is one of the most effective ways in which to learn.

 

 

This class will cover a ton of material within a short time. In order to receive a good grade, this class must be a priority for students. ˇBuena Suerte!
