vehicle operators to become safe and efficient highway users.
The ultimate goal of traffic safety education is to enable drivers to
operate their vehicles safely, efficiently, and responsibly.

12
Course Length: Term Prerequisite:
Identification as gifted and talented in creativity, leadership, or
general intellectual. Is there something you love and would love to learn
more about, but haven’t had the chance in ordinary classes?
This is a class created for the in-depth pursuit of your creative
interests. The class will be
conducted in true seminar style, more like a college class, with student-led
review of major artistic and scientific inventions in twentieth-century America.
We will focus on cultural developments such as jazz and rock music and
space and computer technologies, rather than the economic and political events
emphasized in history courses. Our
goal is an enhanced understanding of the creative process and a cultural
inventory, a sense of where we stand as a nation entering the 21st
century. Designed to offer
heightened intellectual and creative challenges, the course will involve various
projects, rather than tests or traditional essays, and will culminate in a major
research and creative project of the student’s own choice and design. Preference will be given to 12th and then
11th grade students.
PEER
TUTORING Credit: l Grade: 10,
11, 12
Course Length: Term Prerequisite: teacher
approval.
This course is designed to provide opportunities for “non-handicapped” peers to interact (socially and academically) with peers in the FMD classroom. This will increase the levels of awareness and understanding of persons with disabilities. This course includes a study of the causes and prevention of mental retardation and other handicapping conditions, special education, life management skills, values and issues related to integration and career opportunities for various human service careers. The grade is determined by participation and assignments completed. This is a great course for those wanting to go into a social work, physical therapy, occupational therapy or the teaching field. |
